Kendall Moore and John Goldman this Thursday @ 914

Join us this Thursday for a night of new music featuring trombonist Kendall Moore teaming up with Studio 914’s resident sax-man John Goldman.

Kendall Moore[1]Kendall Moore is an active trombonist, composer and arranger currently living in the Miami metropolitan area. In 2008, Kendall completed his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies at Roosevelt University, and in 2010, he finished his Masters of Music degree in Jazz Composition at the University of Miami. As a composer, such ensembles as the Rob Parton Jazz Orchestra, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music Jazz Ensemble and the University of Miami Concert Jazz Band have featured his works.

As an arranger and orchestrator, he has had the opportunity to write for a wide variety of artists, most recently for a PBS television production “Jazz at the Philharmonic” special featuring such artists as Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Terence Blanchard and many others.  Kendall is currently a Henry Mancini Institute music fellow at the University of Miami where he is completing his Doctorate of Musical Arts.

In addition to being the owner and a curator at Studio 914, John jg colosis176K[1]Goldman has remained a regular contributor to the Jazz scene as a steadily gigging musician, composer and recording artist.  John plays with his own group, Quadrangle, as well as being a sideman and collaborator with musicians across the city.  It will be a special treat to see him jamming with an old friend on his home turf.  It’s not often Kendall’s bone can be heard around these parts, so please join us in welcoming him back to Chicago.  Doors are at 8pm.  We will be collecting donations for the musicians.  And, as always, Studio 914 is BYOB. See you there!
